Sacred Heart Invitational Cross Country Meet

SBA Cross Country Team at Boyd Park

SBA Cross Country Team at Boyd Park

It was a beautiful day in Vaughan, as the St. Brother Andre Cross Country team took part in the Sacred Heart Invitational on Wednesday, October 12th at Boyd Park. The meet consisted of 77 schools, and a total of 1770 runners; 18 of them representing SBA. The races ranged in length from 3000m and 5000m for the midget girls and boys, 4000m and 6000m for the junior girls and boys, as well as the 5000m and 7000m for the senior boys and girls. There were plenty of nerves and excitement from the runners as they readied themselves for the very challenging Boyd Park course that lied ahead.

The team arrived at the park early in the morning to set up their equipment, scout the course, and warm up for their race. Plenty of butterflies filled the runners stomach’s, as they looked to proudly represent their school. The hills and slopes of Boyd Park proved to be very tricky, but no match for SBA, as we finished in an impressive 12th out of 77 schools. Our very own, Sean Wu finished in an outstanding 20th place out of 275 runners in the Senior Boys 7000m, which helped guide SBA to it’s impressive finish, led by Ms. Salvino and Mr. Kelly. The coaches are incredibly proud of their runners and encourage them to keep practicing.

A big congrats and good luck to the coaches and team, as SBA look to build on their cross country success when they return to Boyd Park on Tuesday, October 18th to take part in the YRAA meet.
