Mr. Scenna Joins our SBA Admin Team

Welcome Mr. Christian Scenna to our SBA administrative team.

Congratulations on your appointment to Vice-Principal for the YCDSB.  Mr. Scenna will leave his position as teacher of the Transitions Program and join Vice-Principal Ms. Cosentino, Vice-Principal Mr. Marrin and Principal Mr. Pivato to join this year’s team.

Here are some things you may not have known about Mr. Scenna. He is a graduate of York University with a degree in History and Political Science.  He was program leader of the Transitions Diagnostic Centre for 10 years and holds a Specialist in Special Education and Cooperative Education.  For over ten years prior to going into teaching, Mr. Scenna worked as a Child and Youth Worker for Kinark Child and Family Services of York Region, and was a supervisor who coordinated sports, music and community events for the Town of Newmarket Youth and Recreation Centre.

Many staff and students met Mr. Scenna through his years of work at SBA as our school’s Barbell Club Fitness Program Coordinator and Assistant Defensive Football coach.  But he is well known in general for being active and involved in all of our school events and is greatly admired by the community for his incredible school spirit.

His first year as a Vice-Principal is sure to be an exciting one given his personal interests in:  Special Education, Co-curricular programming, experiential and hands-on learning, inclusive schools (mental wellness), Assistive Technology, and Secondary Pathways.

We wish you well in the years ahead, Mr. Scenna!  We are partners at your side.
